NEXT MEETING DATE: JANUARY 8, 6:00 - 8:00PM | MERRY ELM WEST CHRISTMAS: DEC 13, 6:00 - 8:00PM
A proud and active part of the Elm West neighbourhood, the Elm West Playground Association and it's members are an integral part of the community. They have been hosting events, growing their gardens and fostering connection in the area for over a decade!
We have worked hand-in-hand with the Playground Association to connect the Donovan and Elm West communities together, as we understand that we work better together than apart. As one of our partners, we list their events on our "Events" page of the website, so be sure to see what events they may be hosting in the community.
You can also follow and like their Facebook page, to receive more news and information on a playground that's near, and dear, to our hearts.
Around about as long as the DEWCAN, the Donovan - Elm West Seniors have been an active volunteer organization across the area in helping to facilitate and advocate for the needs of seniors in the community.
They've been an essential part of the DEWCAN, acting as both a mentor and guardian for the organization. We share the use of the Antwerp Playground for our events, working hard to improve the conditions of the area so that generations, young and old, get to enjoy the fruits of our labor.
The DEWS host a social at the Antwerp Playground every 3rd Thursday of the month from 1-3pm, except during the summer and December. Keep an eye on our Events page, or visit our DEWCAN meetings!
Founded by the City of Greater Sudbury at the turn of the Millennium, the city has been a focal point of support for the Community Action Networks through the support of human, financial and infrastructural resources, assisting neighborhoods in better meeting their needs.
The DEWCAN has been proudly supported by our Ward 4 councilor(s), present and former, in addition to a wonderful liaison provided by the city, who have been instrumental in providing our organization with the support and resources necessary to meet our needs.
Without the support of Greater Sudbury staff, we would not be the organization that we are today. For many of us in the Donovan - Elm West, Sudbury has been our forever home, and we are proud to work shoulder-to-shoulder with the city to make this a neighbourhood that everyone can be proud to call theirs.
As a local community organization, we are always looking for new ways to collaborate and co-ordinate with other organizations that are trying to fill the gaps of what's available, and what people want or need in our area.
If you are an organization that would be interested in collaborating together, feel free to email us at dewcansudbury@gmail.com, or follow and like our Facebook page for more information.
Let's work together on creating a united front to address the concerns of residents in the area, helping to make a home for everyone in the Donovan - Elm West neighbourhood. Why?
We DEW, We CAN, We Are.
